Three Gold Medals at 2011 COOC Competition
Three of Pacific Sun's gourmet California extra virgin olive oils were honored with Gold Medals by the judges of the 2011 California Olive Oil Council Competition.
Pacific Sun's Proprietor's Select Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a mono-varietal oil made of 100% Ascolana olives, an Italian variety that grows in many olive groves in Tehama County. It has a radiant perfume of apricots and peaches and a nice spicy finish. It's good for dipping, great for sautéing a white fish and on Asian dishes.
Pacific Sun's Tehama County Blend Extra Virgin Olive Oil (the one recommended by Cook's Illustrated), is our most popular and versatile olive oil. It is made from a blend of Mission and Ascolana olives. Grassy, with notes of tomato leaf, it has a gentle pungency and a beautiful herbaceous aftertaste. The Tehama County Blend is perfect for pastas, rice, lamb and red meat dishes.
Pacific Sun crafted its delicate Eva's Blend Extra Virgin Olive Oil from another cultivar typical of California, the Manzanillo olive. Eva's Blend expresses flowery and grassy aromas that should be featured in salads, soups, and chicken dishes. Its green and nutty flavors make it ideal to drizzle over cooked vegetables.
This is the third consecutive year where the California Olive Oil Council has awarded Gold Medals to Pacific Sun's Proprietor's Select Ascolana Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Tehama County Blend Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This is the second consecutive year that the Eva's Blend Extra Virgin Olive Oil has been honored with a Gold Medal.
Since 2003, Pacific Sun has been awarded a total of twenty-three gold medals, thirteen silver medals and two bronze medals from prestigious olive oil competitions. Constant recognition by expert olive oil tasting panels proves Pacific Sun's consistent success in producing quality gourmet California extra virgin olive oils.
In celebration of these most recent accolades, we have created a special Gold Medal Box, which contains a bottle of each of these award-winning olive oils.
Enjoy them in good health!
